Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is one of Boulder's most treasured landmarks. Hand-carved by more than 40 master artisans in Tajikistan and gifted to Boulder as a symbol of international friendship, this ornate teahouse is the only structure of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Nestled along Boulder Creek in Central Park with the Flatirons as a backdrop, it has been a beloved gathering place since opening its doors in 1998.

Inside, every surface tells a story. Hand-carved plaster ceilings display intricate geometric patterns in blue, gold, and turquoise. Elaborately carved cedar columns and hand-painted ceramic panels reflect artistic traditions stretching back nearly 2,000 years in Central Asia. The signatures of the master artisans themselves are hidden in the ceiling carvings. It is not a museum, though. It is a working restaurant and tea salon serving over 100 varieties of tea alongside Tajik and international cuisine.

The teahouse serves lunch and dinner on weekdays, weekend brunch, and afternoon tea daily. Reserve a spot on the seasonal outdoor patio alongside Boulder Creek, or sit beneath the ornate plaster ceiling inside and let the atmosphere transport you. It is a Boulder institution that every local and visitor should experience at least once.
