Overview

About Brighton

Brighton is a growing Denver suburb of approximately 46,000 residents, located about 20 miles northeast of downtown Denver and 20 minutes from Denver International Airport. It serves as the county seat of Adams County and sits at an elevation of 4,984 feet. Founded in the 1880s as a railroad and agricultural community, Brighton was named after Brighton Beach, New York, and was officially incorporated on September 1, 1887.

Brighton offers a small-town feel with suburban amenities. The historic downtown district features the Armory Performing Arts Center, an "Eye for Art" public art program, and the Anythink Library. Major annual events include the Festival of Lights Parade (the second largest holiday parade in Colorado), Summerfest, Fourth of July celebrations, and Flix & Kicks concerts in the park.

The city has experienced rapid growth, roughly doubling its population since 2000 while maintaining its agricultural heritage. Barr Lake State Park, located just north, is a popular destination for fishing, boating, birdwatching, and hiking. The Brighton Recreation Center offers a fitness center, swimming pools, basketball courts, and a skate park. Brighton's affordability compared to Boulder and Denver makes it an attractive option for buyers seeking space and value.

AJ's Take

"Brighton offers incredible value for buyers who want more space for their money and don't mind a longer commute to Boulder. The community has a genuine small-town feel while offering easy access to Denver and DIA. For buyers who are priced out of Boulder and the immediate surrounding communities, Brighton is worth a serious look."
